The first heat of coke is slowly pushed out by the coke pusher
On the morning of September 15, the trial production ceremony of Baosteel Phase 1 Coke Ovens Renovation Project was held. Mr. Dai Zhihao (General Manger of Baosteel), Mr. Zhi Xiwei (Vice General Manger of Baosteel), Mr. Xu Yong Feng (General Manager of MCC5 Group Shanghai Corp. Ltd.), Mr. Wang Zhongxu (Vice General Manager of MCC5 Group Shanghai Corp. Ltd.), and the representatives from the client, design company, supervising company and construction company attended the trial production ceremony. About 200 people witnessed the historic moment of synchronous coking of 2A and 2B coke ovens.
At 10:18 am, commanded by Mr. Dai Zhihao, No. 156 door of carbonization chamber of 2B coke oven was opened and the first heat of coke was pushed out by the coke pusher and guided into the coke quenching car by the coke guide. The first heat of coke was successfully produced by 2B coke oven. Later, 2A coke oven also successfully produced the first heat of coke. This indicates the successful trial production of Baosteel Phase 1 Coke Ovens fRenovation Project and MCC5’s successful construction of the 18th and 19th 7m coke ovens in China.
The original Baosteel Phase 1 Coke Ovens Project consists of 4 coke ovens (6m, 50 ports) imported from Japan Nippon Steel, which was put into production in May, 1985. After 28-year production, the original 4 coke ovens have exceeded the designed lifetime. Therefore, Baosteel decided to make overhaul, renovation and technical upgrading of these 4 coke ovens. Under the premise to maintain the original annual coke production of 5,530,000t, the latest coke oven technology is adopted to change the original 6m coke ovens to 7m coke ovens, so as to realize the big coke ovens, improve the coke quality and upgrade the environmental level.
MCC5 Group Shanghai Corp. Ltd. has executed the following work of Baosteel Phase 1 Coke Ovens Renovation Project: Coal preparation system, coke oven system, CDQ system, coke treatment system, power supply & distribution, EIC facilities, communication facilities, thermal facilities, ventilation & de-dusting facilities, plumbing facilities, and external pipelines, etc., among which, the coke oven system includes：newly-built 4 JNX2-70-1 reheating 7m coke ovens with 50 ports（1A, 1B, 2A, 2B）and the relative auxiliary equipment.
The newly-built 4 coke ovens (7m) will not only meet with the national special emission limitation requirements, but also improve the comprehensive competitive power, environmental level and energy-saving level. It will make a great contribution to the long-term development of Baosteel. The process, technology, equipment and environmental protection of this project have reached the world advanced level and maintained MCC5’s reputation of “National Coke Oven Champion”.
